Job Overview

Founders Law LLC is looking for an experienced intellectual property attorney to cornerstone its new Intellectual Property practice group. The role will initially support its existing corporate practice, which advises entrepreneurs, startups, and venture capital funds as outside counsel. The ideal candidate for this role is looking to build a thriving practice in the field of intellectual property, with the full support, resources, and staffing of an existing firm. The successful candidate will share the entrepreneurial spirit of our clients and thrive in our growing firm that acts and feels like a startup itself. The position is remote while our new location is being built (available February 2023), and then will be hybrid at the individual’s discretion.

Position Highlights

  • Founders has an existing pipeline of intellectual property work that is currently referred out.
  • The role will allow for blank slate on which the candidate can build a practice group with the full support
    of Founders resources, clients, and staff.

    exceeding the typical metrics for partner compensation at small and mid-size firms.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Build a practice group to provide excellent intellectual property counsel to clients.
  • Source, hire, and supervise associates and staff to efficiently achieve client deliverables.
  • Coordinate with corporate practice and outside specialists as needed for client work.
  • Build on an existing book of business with full firm support, resources, and guidance.

Qualifications
  • An existing book of business, or other demonstrated capacity for business development.
  • Requisite licenses and admissions to practice in the field of intellectual property law.
  • Interest in and passion for entrepreneurship required; prior experience with startups a plus.
  • Management and supervisory experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Willingness to think and work creatively, building a business as well as a practice.

Founders Law LLC is looking for a corporate paralegal for our growing corporate practice, which advises entrepreneurs, startups, and venture capital funds as outside counsel. The successful candidate will share the entrepreneurial spirit of our clients and thrive in our growing firm that acts and feels like a startup itself. The position is remote while our new location is being built (available February 2023), and then will be hybrid.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Effectuate entity formations, including document drafting and filing with state agencies.
  • Manage the firm’s corporate docket and ensure timely filing of all annual reports.
  • Work with attorneys during corporate transactions, including managing checklists, drafting
    signature packets, sending documents out for electronic signature, assembling executed
    documents, and preparing closing books.
  • Draft consents and agreements for transactions and annual corporate compliance.
  • Research legal and commercial issues for client deliverables, including securities compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and attorneys to address open issues and tasks.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of corporate and transactional experience as a certified paralegal.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and document management skills.
  • Familiarity with Illinois and Delaware Secretary of State websites, forms, and procedures.
  • Prior experience with startups is a plus, but not required.
